Discover the Art & Excitement of Working Equitation !

Proudly Partnered with USA Working Equitation |      Supporting Region 5 Midwest Riders

Welcome to the fascinating world of Working Equitation (WE) — a sport where tradition, precision, and the deep connection between horse and rider take center stage. Whether you're brand-new to equestrian sports or an experienced rider seeking a fresh challenge, Working Equitation invites you to explore a discipline that is as diverse as it is dynamic.

At ManeAndRein, we’re thrilled to be an official Affiliate with USA Working Equitation (USAWE) — the national governing body for the sport in the United States. Together, we are dedicated to supporting and promoting Region 5 (Midwest) riders, events, and educational opportunities.

 What is Working Equitation?

Working Equitation is a multi-phase equestrian sport that combines elements of classical dressage, obstacle negotiation, speed, and cattle work. Rooted in the traditional working riding styles of countries like Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy, WE is now practiced around the globe — and it's gaining momentum across the Midwest.

This uniquely inclusive sport celebrates all breeds, disciplines, and riding styles. It rewards harmony between horse and rider, adaptability, and courage, whether you're navigating a dressage pattern, opening a gate, or herding a cow through a pen.

About Our Partnership with USAWE

USA Working Equitation (USAWE) is the national nonprofit organization recognized by the World Association of Working Equitation. Formed in 2020 through a unification of WE United and the Confederation for Working Equitation, USAWE is dedicated to the development, promotion, and education of Working Equitation nationwide.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, USAWE fosters local, regional, and international amateur sports competition — and Region 5 (our Midwest home!) is a thriving hub of WE activity.

About the USAWE Logo

The USAWE logo, designed by Alexandra Crippen, beautifully reflects the sport's diversity and four trials:USAWE_Logo-R_CMYK_72

    • A mule in Western tack performs in Dressage

    • An Iberian horse in traditional attire navigates the EOH trial

    • A horse in English tack flies through the Speed trial

    • And all three riders come together for the dynamic Cattle trial

The logo symbolizes unity in diversity — and the spirit of teamwork that defines Working Equitation in the U.S.
